Arrival’s collection of drawings explores the intersection of the natural world, architecture, and the idea of home, offering a hopeful and imaginative perspective. Drawing on her background as an interior designer, Kate Mary creates intimate renderings of Scottish interiors and landscapes, celebrating the rituals, objects, and seasonal changes that shape our lives. By enhancing motifs, playing with scale, and intensifying light and shadow, her works evoke striking and atmospheric depictions of memory and transformation.
Kate Mary is an artist living and working in Glasgow, Scotland. Her practice consists of largely two-dimensional drawings and paintings. These are detailed, idealized representations of places, collaged together to form immersive and calming visions of escapism. Mary is influenced by memories of local and far-flung journeys she makes, and the architecture, light, and pattern within them. Her work explores and responds to our built environment, capturing moments of intrigue in order to create intimate and otherworldly scenes. The pieces included in the exhibition are inspired by the French Riviera in particular. In the past year, Mary has exhibited in London, Seoul, Tusson, France and Glasgow. In addition, she has completed two residencies: Delphian Gallery Open Call Residency and Print Club London’s Screen printing program and was long-listed for the Jackson’s Painting Prize 2023.
